Winter Treats and Weekly Link Party

We finally got our first good snow of the year--one that's more than just a dusting of powder. That's how it is living in the South. A true snowfall is a rare treat that snowballs into a flurry of school closings, icy roads, cozy mittens, and wet galoshes.

Our yard turning into a winter wonderland had the kids scurrying around for their scarves, hats, and coats. They couldn't wait to get outside and play. So I snuggled them up in multiple layers and the handmade scarves and hats from their Mimi. And they were off! I couldn't help but smile as I watched them make tracks in the snow, sled down the neighbor's hill, engage in a lively snowball fight, and even make a small snowman with a carrot nose.

The snow isn't the only thing to cheer about on a snow day, though! There's also the mugs of hot cocoa and sweet treats to enjoy after the outside fun is done. After my kids had enjoyed as much snowy fun as the freezing temperatures would let them stand, they stepped back into the warmth of the house, peeled off the wet layers, and snuggled under blankets to thaw off. And to enjoy some delicious treats!

If you like to treat your kids to mugs of hot chocolate and other winter-themed confections on snowy days, you're going to love this week's features. From snowflake cookies to polar bear marshmallows, here's a fun collection of treats that are perfect to enjoy this winter.
1. Polar Bear Marshmallows / Gluesticks
Aren't these adorable? They're sure to make any mug of hot cocoa a little more fun!

2. Black and White Chocolate Chip Cookies / Gluesticks
Here's a fun combination the kids will love! It's double chocolate chip and classic chocolate chip cookies combined.

3. Frozen Banana Penguin Pops / Satsuma
These are sure to bring on loads of smiles and giggles! And kids will love joining in to add the eyes, noses, and feet to these cute edible creations.

4. Egg Nog Snowflake Cookies Syncopated Mama
After a day of playing in the snow, a batch of warm cookies is the perfect way to warm up. And these look amazing!

5. Hot Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats The Life of Jennifer Dawn
Few things beat a classic. This recipe takes those beloved Rice Krispies Treats to a new level though with loads of marshmallows and chocolate chips and even a secret ingredient in the mix.
