DIY Muslin Lavender Sachets

Lavender is one of my favorite scents. Do you love it too? This simple DIY project will bring the relaxing scent of lavender to your home! These lavender sachets can be stored with linens to deter moths and tucked into drawers or closets to release a lovely scent.

These lavender sachets also make a perfect handmade gift for any occasion. Package several together to give at a wedding, housewarming party, baby shower, or birthday. Who even needs a reason to give a gift? These make thoughtful "just because" presents!

Whether you need 100 somethings for wedding favors or 1 special item to embellish the outside of the package, this is a simply lovely craft to consider. Keep reading to see how to make a few or a few dozen of your own lavender sachets...

DIY Stamped Lavender Sachets

Supplies

  • cotton muslin bags
  • lavender
  • lavender essential oil
  • bowl and spoon
  • stamps and stamp pad
  • additional essential oil--peppermint, lemon... (optional)

Directions

Measure 1 cup of lavender and pour it into a bowl. Add 6 drops of lavender essential oil. (If desired, you can also add a few drops of a second oil of your choice to create a subtle blend of smells.) Stir the oils into the lavender buds.

Prepare the muslin bags by using stamps to embellish them. You can use alphabet stamps, ones with images, or a mixture of both. Use a dark color of ink to ensure that it will show up on the muslin cloth. Just press your inked stamps directly onto the bags to decorate them.

Use a spoon to fill each bag with the lavender bud mixture. Be generous--filling each one to the top of the bag. Pull the threads tight to close the bag and tie a few knots to secure it.

Tuck your lavender sachets away with your stored linens or in drawers. They'll deter moths and put off a calming scent. These stamped lavender sachets are also great for gifting! Wrap a few in a twine-tied box to create a beautiful, handmade gift that's perfect for any occasion!

Happy creating!
