Easter Egg Ornament Craft

The warmer weather has put me in the mood for some spring crafting! With Easter just around the corner, the kids and I began making a few crafts that could also serve as decorations. One of the crafts we made were these Easter Egg Ornaments out of pretty, pastel paper. Making them was a fun and easy way to begin adding little touches of spring to the home. Keep reading to see how you and your kids can quickly whip up your own Easter Egg Ornaments with just a few simple supplies that you probably already have in your crafts stash.

Easter Egg Ornaments

Supplies

• decorative paper (I used Vintage Bliss from Simple Stories.)
• crafter's tape
• scissors
• yarn
• beads
• Easter egg template (see below)

Directions
1. Save and print out a copy of the Easter egg template. Cut out one of the eggs to use as the pattern to cut out additional eggs from decorative paper. You'll need four egg pieces to make each ornament so be sure to cut out a lot.

2. Fold the paper eggs in half lengthwise.

3. Take one of the folded pieces. With it still folded, apply a small amount of adhesive to one of the sides.

4. Lay another folded egg over the adhesive on the first egg making sure to match up the edges of both pieces of paper. This will be one-half  of your ornament. Use two other egg pieces to make the other half of the ornament.

5. Cut a piece of yarn that is several inches long.

6. Tie the two ends together into a knot. Thread a bead over the opposite side of the yarn and pull it down to the knot.

7. Lay the yarn across one of the ornament halves. Make sure that the bead is sitting plush against the bottom of the egg. Apply adhesive to the sections of paper that the yarn is touching. Lay a second half piece on top of the first. This will sandwich the yarn into the center of the ornament.

8. Thread a second bead onto the yarn allowing it to rest on top of the egg. Tie a knot to secure it in place. Tip: If necessary, you can neaten up the edges of your egg with your scissors.

Alternative ideas

• String up several on a piece of twine to make a unique garland.
• Group some of the eggs together in a basket to use for decoration.
• Have the kids write a sweet note on each one and gift them to friends and family members.
