His & Her Framed Chalk Love Notes

In the midst of work obligations, taking care of kids, and the hullabaloo of life, it's easy to drift away from being intentional when it comes to marriage. Sometimes the simplest gestures can make the greatest impact though. Brewing a cup of coffee in the morning for your spouse, rolling up your sleeves to help unload the dishes, or just leaving a simple note can go far in reminding them how much you care.

I'm not going to lie. Tim and I have certainly ventured through our fair share of rocky terrain during our marriage journey. There have been some mucky moments when I just didn't know how we'd ever get through. With prayer and commitment, our marriage has continue to stand and flourish though.

One of my goals this year is to be more intentional with our marriage. I want to plan and go out on more dates. (We are lousy with this and average about one, maybe two, dates each year. Yep. And that's a generous estimation.) I want to pray for my husband and our relationship more. And I want to be more intentional about doing little things to let him know I care.

With that last purpose in mind, I made a cute craft that gives us a place to leave little notes for each other. Cheesy? It is a bit, but it's also a lot of fun. Tim's response: "Oh, that's cool!" See, they're a hit! Ready to make this easy craft? It's a perfect one for Valentine's Day...

Framed Chalk Love Notes

Supplies:
  • chalkboard paper (Got it at Hobby Lobby!)
  • large heart punch
  • patterned paper
  • picture frames
  • chalk
  • dry cloth or paper towel
  • paper cutter or scissors
  • double-sided tape

Steps:
1. Prime pieces of chalkboard paper by rubbing chalk along them and wiping the surface clean with a dry cloth.

2. Use the punch to cut out large hearts from the primed chalkboard paper.

3. Cut pieces of patterned paper down to the correct size for the frame. I used 4 in. by 6 in. frames and used a paper cutter to cut the paper to that size.

4. Place the paper into the frames. Tip: I put the glass from the frame behind the paper to create a sturdy writing surface. Use double-sided tape to adhere the hearts to the center of the framed paper.

5. Write little messages to each other. When you are ready to erase, just use a dry cloth.

Happy crafting!
