Peppermint Salt Dough: Sensory Dough Series

It's time for December's installment of the 12 Months of Sensory Dough series!  Each month 11 of my fellow bloggers and I are sharing our playtime adventures involving a different kind of dough. Last month we mixed up some Salt Dough and used it to make decorative fall leaves. This month's theme is Scented Salt Dough and we mixed up a batch of this...

Peppermint Salt Dough

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable or olive oil
  • peppermint essential oil (You can learn more about and purchase essential oils from my lovely friend Tanya!)
  • red food coloring
Directions: Mix the flour, salt, water, and vegetable oil together in a bowl. Add six drops of peppermint essential oil and stir. Add a little more flour or water if needed until the dough reaches the desired consistency.

Place half of the dough into a small bowl. Add 24 drops of red food coloring to give it a nice, deep color.

Hand it over to the kids and let playtime begin!
