She kindly sent me an autographed copy of the book and invited me join along with her online book tour. I poured over the book as soon as it came in the mail. Lydia Grace enjoyed looking through it too. The whole time she kept pointing out the crafts she wanted to do. Side note: I think she may have pointed to all of them. {chuckle} That girl! She loves to craft.
Since Father's Day is coming up, we decided to start with the Father's Day Bear Snack Jars shown on the front cover of the book. Lydia Grace and Eli both made daddy a bear filled with some yummy snacks. Aren't they cute?!
The snack bears are made from honey bear jars. When I peeled the label off the front of each jar, there was some sticky residue left. Even after scrubbing them in warm soapy water, it just didn't want to come off. I remembered a little tip that Vanessa gave in her book about using peanut butter to remove labels, so I gave it a try...
I must admit that I was skeptical about it working. Vanessa knows her stuff though, and all of the remaining residue from the labels came off easily! I wish I had known about this trick when I did these. Vanessa's tips, the unique projects, and the vivid photographs were just a few of my favorite things about the book.
You can purchase your own copy of Party in a Jar right here. And Vanessa is more than happy to send you a signed bookplate to place inside your book! Just e-mail her at [email protected] with the subject line BOOKPLATE, proof of purchase (Amazon screen shot, photo of receipt, etc), and a shipping address.
Happy crafting!
