Moon Sand: Sensory Dough Series

It's time for another installment of the 12 Months of Sensory Dough Series! Each month 11 fellow bloggers and I are sharing our playtime adventures with dough. Last month was Scented Dough.  This month we made Moon Sand!
My "take" throughout this dough series has been to keep the recipes simple with things that you already have handy at home. This recipe certainly sticks to that with only three ingredients...

What You'll Need:
1 cup sand
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup water
*You can double, triple, or even quadruple the recipe to make as much as you want.

Directions:
Mix the three ingredients together and let the fun begin. That's it!
Tip: Since this dough can be a bit messier than some other types, I used plastic tubs to help contain the mess.
Lydia Grace ran to get her sun glasses the moment I mentioned that she was going to make and play with mood sand. I guess she heard the word sand and thought of the beach. I love that girl! {chuckling}

My little Eli was so proud of himself. While he played, he kept saying, "Mommy, I'm doing so great! I'm doing SO great!" He has a really hard time with getting his hands messy. He doesn't like things to get on them. Every time he touched the moon sand, he boasted on how great he was doing. And he was!

We had a friend playing with us too! She had the creative idea to make shapes out of the dough, so we incorporated that into our playtime as well.

Little Caleb is just too small to play with moon sand made with actual sand. Things still go straight from his hands to his mouth. I noticed that a couple of my co-hosts for this series came up with options that are "taste friendly". I'm anxious to try their versions for Caleb. He needs some sensory play too!

    1. Sounds like a great excuse to head to the beach. I was actually able to buy ours at a local craft store since we sadly live several hours from the nearest beach.
