Make Your Own Photo Booth with Props

In case you missed it, we did a photo booth as entertainment for Caleb's 1st Birthday Party. I wanted to share this tutorial the other day right after posting about the party, but I was hit hard by a tummy bug. The hubby stayed home yesterday and today to help watch the kids, and I'm just now feeling a little better. Luckily I am the only one who got sick. With three small children, that is such a blessing! Anyway, I am sharing it now...

DIY Photo Booth
Supplies:
1 yard of fabric
party streamers
tape

Directions:
It is about to get really complicated. Pay close attention because this is tricky...
Find a good spot for the photo booth. Tape the fabric to the wall or picture frame that is already hanging. I taped mine to a frame and cleared the floor space underneath except for a stool for the kids. Use lots of tape! You don't want it to fall. Tape party streamers to the top and sides for a little extra flair. That's it! I was just "being a little jokey" (an expression my 5-year-old uses) when I said it was complicated. It is really quite easy and so are the props.

Photo Booth Props
Supplies:
cardstock (heavy paper)
paper straws
stapler
pencil
scissors
hot glue gun
craft pom poms
template (made with PicMonkey)

Directions:
1. Gather your materials.
2. Print off the template provided above and cut out the individual pieces.
3. Trace the sunglasses, moustache, and lips onto cardstock. Trace and cut as many as you think you will need. I also traced a few triangles to make hats. Tip: Trace on the wrong side of the paper so pencil lines are not a concern.
4. Cut out each shape. Erase any obvious pencil marks.
5. Flatten the tip of a paper straw and staple a prop to it. Continue stapling each prop to a straw. Tip: If you want to secure your props to the straws even better, staple both horizontally and vertically.
6. Use your hot glue gun to attach a pom pom to the top of each hat.
7. Gather your props together.
8. Place them in your photo booth area. Have fun!
This picture of Lydia Grace with her her Uncle Carl is one of my favorites! Their serious expressions are great! To see more pictures from our photo booth session, click here.

Happy memory making!

  1. These are so cute! Is it sad that I want to host a big girl party with my own photo booth now?

  2. Adorable! I had a photo booth for my boys' 5th birthday party--firefighter themed--and I was very pleasantly surprised at how much people love to take ridiculous photos of themselves! ;-)
