The kids and I planted a small indoor herb garden this week. Lydia Grace is even keeping track of each plants' growth with a plant journal that I made. (I'll share that another day.) It's the teacher in me! I can't help it! {laughing}
For our herbs, I made stamped garden markers. Want to make your own? They are easy to do...
Supplies:
- stamp pad
- alphabet stamps (I got these from the dollar section at Target.)
- large craft sticks
- polyurethane or vanish and sponge brush (I use water-based since it is low odor.)
1. Gather your materials.
2. Stamp the names of each herb in your garden onto a separate craft stick. Don't worry if a little extra ink smudges onto the wood. It just adds to the charm.
3. Give them a light coat of polyurethane or varnish.
4. Place the markers into the soil around your growing herbs. We also got these darling white planters from Target.
Just for a little laugh. Here's what happens if you aren't paying close enough attention to the stamps as you are picking them up...
You create a new herb! Hey, it happens! I quickly made a replacement though.
Happy gardening!
These little herb garden markers are so cute, I'm featuring them on my blog today. Thanks for sharing! ~Lisa
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for featuring them!
DeleteLove this idea...i've been rolling the idea of plan markers around in my head for a while. Think it will be a good Mother Day or Birthday present for my mom—an avid gardener.
ReplyDeleteThey would be a good gift for Mother's Day. Great idea! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThese look adorable! I have everything I need to make these too. If I could only keep herbs alive here in Northern Cali, I have tried for several years in a row to have an herb garden without any success. Please come share at the Bacon Time Anything Goes weekly linky, if you have not already.
