5 Fabulous Button Crafts

Did you see the fabulous craft supplies I received from Pink Flamingo Ephemera? This lovely shop sells vintage paper and craft supplies that are truly unique. Be sure to take a peek! The vintage buttons really got my creativity flowing. So...today I'm sharing five simple craft ideas for buttons.
Crafting with buttons is so easy and fun! From jewelry to bookmarks, you can use them for a variety of crafts and gift items. I think it's safe to assume that we all have some buttons laying around. Pull those buttons out and try one of these super simple ideas. Each one takes less than five minutes to make. How's that for quick and easy crafting?!

Supplies:

  • buttons
  • earring posts and backs
  • E6000 or other strong adhesive

Directions:

  1. Gather your materials. Pick out buttons that would make good earrings and are large enough for the earrings posts.
  2. Use your adhesive to glue an earring post to each button.
  3. Allow them to dry. Slide the earring backs onto the posts.
  4. Wear or gift your new earrings!

Supplies:

  • buttons
  • mini clothes pins
  • magnet strips
  • scissors
  • E6000 or other strong adhesive

Directions:

  1. Gather your materials.
  2. Glue a button to the top of each clothespin.
  3. Cut a magnet strip into pieces the same width as the clothespins. Peel off the backing and stick the magnet pieces along the side opposite the button.
  4. Place and use your magnets on any magnetic surface.

Supplies:

  • buttons
  • ribbon or necklace chain

Directions:

  1. Find some buttons with wide slits.
  2. Pick out a necklace chain or ribbon.
  3. Slide the chain or ribbon through the slits on the button. (If you used a ribbon, tie the ends together and snip them at an angle.
  4. Wear or gift this unique accessory.

Supplies:

  • paper clips
  • buttons

Directions:

  1. Pick out buttons with the holes at the back.
  2. Thread each button onto a paperclip.
  3. Use your button bookmarks or give one along with a book to that avid reader you know and love.

Supplies:

  • twine or ribbon
  • ribbon punch
  • button
  • paper bag

Directions:

  1. Gather your supplies.
  2. Fold the top of the bag over and punch through all of the layers with the ribbon punch.
  3. Thread the twine through both the slits in the bag and the button. Make a knot to secure the button and cut off the excess twine.
  4. Now you have a way to wrap one of the cute ideas above if you want to give one as a gift!

I hope you'll give one or more of these button crafts a try. Let me know if you do! Have you made previously crafted with buttons? What did you make? I'd love to hear about it in the comment section below.
Happy crafting!
