We recently attended a Fairy Festival at a local nature center. I received an e-mail about the event and thought it would be a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon since Lydia Grace loves Tinkerbell and pretty much anything else involving fairies. The e-mail mentioned that the kids would be making a fairy house. I guess I envisioned one like these. Oh no, no, no...
The fairy house they meant was one made from things we could gather together from our natural surroundings--twigs, leaves, rocks... Oh my!
It was a good thing that my sister and brother-in-law had ventured on this outing with the kids and me because I would have been in way over my head without them. I love nature, but building a fairy house from nature with a three-year-old and one-year-old certainly would have been a challenge without them there to help. We did it though! We built a fairy house complete with wall, roof, golden carpet, and walkway. The kids received fairy tokens that they could spend at the fairy market in order to buy shells and other extras for their home. So cute! Eli's favorite part--getting to sit back, snack, and supervise our progress.
What do you think? How did we do?
Completely and utterly enchanting!
