Looking for that perfect apple pie recipe to bake for fall?
Here is mine...
Ingredients:
* 5 apples (approx.)
*1 tbsp. lemon juice
*3/4 cup white granulated sugar
*1/4 cup brown sugar
*2 tbsp. flour
*1/4 tsp. cinnamon
*3 tbsp. butter
*pie crust dough (store bought or homemade)
Directions:
1. Gather your ingredients. For the apples, just pick your favorite type. I typically use Granny Smith apples for baking.
2. Slice the apples and place them into a bowl. Pour 1 tbsp. of freshly squeezed lemon juice into the bowl of apples and stir to completely coat the apples in the juice.
3. Roll out the dough and place it in a pie pan. You can buy the dough at the store or use this site to make your own if you are feeling really ambitious. (I use my thumb to make indentions around the edge of the dough to give it a nice look.) Arrange your apples inside the crust.
4. In a medium sized bowl mix together the flour, both types of sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle to mixture evenly over the apples. Then melt 3 tbsp. of butter to drizzle over the pie filling.
5. Roll out a second piece of dough for the top of the pie.
6. Use a leaf press or cookie cutter to cut out leaves.
7. Arrange the dough leaves on top of the apples.
Begin by placing the pieces around the edge of the pie and working your way to the middle.
8. Bake the pie on 375* for about 45 minutes or until the crust looks golden brown.
Serve and enjoy!

This pie looks wonderful! How does it taste with the skins on it? As a Dietitian, I would love to leave the skins on the pie as that is where all the goodness is!!
